Lawrence L. "Larry" Haxton, 74, of Athens Township, PA, passed away at home unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025.
He was born on July 16, 1950, in Sayre, PA, the son of Llewellyn "Bud" and Florence M. (Dobson) Haxton.
Larry was employed with the Ingersoll Rand, remaining there until the plant closed and then went to work and retired from Trayer Products in Elmira, NY. Larry loved his family and most recently was working with his daughter and son-in-law in construction. He was an avid hunter, meeting up with his friends over the years, spending time looking for the elusive big buck. Larry enjoyed tinkering on vehicles and building things. He loved animals, especially his many dogs, that were his companions over the years. Larry had a sense of humor that some would wonder about but he could always make you laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, especially when it was time for coffee or his daily lunches at Becky's Diner in Waverly. He will not only be missed by his family but by all those who knew him and spent many years being his friend.
He is predeceased by his loving wife; Ruth, son; Lawrence Milton "Larry" Haxton, father; Llewellyn Haxton, mother; Florence Lecher, and his brother; Thomas "Tom" Haxton.
Larry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Heather and Jamie Bell, son; Timothy Haxton, grandchildren; Brittney (Jacob) Mays, Mackenzie (Nathan) Wolkerstorfer, Sydney (Chase) Harner, Micaela (Weston Moskalski) Bell, Mackenzie Plouse, Briana Haxton, and Taylor Haxton, 2 great-grandchildren; Avery and Saige, sisters; Donna Haxton and Cindy Haxton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Time of Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 3pm to 5pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Gray officiating.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Tioga Point Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved Ruth.
