Lawrence “Larry” H. Cook, Jr. entered into eternal life with our Heavenly Father on January 18, 2025. Beloved husband of Wanda Lirette Cook for over 42 years. Father of Brent Roundtree and the late Devin Cook. Grandfather of Andre Cook. Father-in-law of Emily Chuter. Uncle of Mecca Cook. Son of the late Lawrence Cook, Sr. and Sheila Greco Cook. Brother of the late John Cook. Age 68 years and lifelong resident of Terrytown, LA. Larry attended Aurora Gardens Academy and graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School. He was a collegiate swimmer at Louisiana State University and Tulane University. He worked for Bellsouth/AT&T for 31 years until retirement and served as an executive for the Telecom Pioneers for over 25 years with over 20 of those years as President of the Greater New Orleans Council/Westbank Life Member Club. He coordinated volunteers for numerous organizations such as New Orleans Sports Foundation, Bridge House/Grace House, M.S. Tour for Cure, Crescent City Classic runs, and Lafreniere Christmas in the Park to name a few. He was also a Communications Workers of America (CWA) Union Job Steward for many years where he would defend anyone’s rights with the same determination he had in anything he did. He coached little league baseball at Terrytown Playground and was as an Eagle Scout and Boy Scout leader. Larry had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. His love for his family and friends and unwavering willingness to help others were hallmarks of his life, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness and care. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Hosanna Church, 2215 Barataria Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 2 PM until Funeral Service time at 4 PM.
