My memories of Lena go back 38 years when we attended the same church for a short time and volunteered in the nursery together. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman and I looked up to her as a role model as I was just beginning motherhood and she was mothering teens. She shared wisdom with me about being a Godly wife and mother. Over the years our paths crossed many times - we both volunteered at Birthright, we attended a Bible study together, we cared for a family in need together, Vick helped me climb the 46 HighPeaks, my daughter babysat her twin granddaughters one day a week for a year, and more! I have been richly blessed to have known Lena, Vick, their daughters and granddaughters. My love and prayers go out to all her family.

My memories of Lena go back 50 years. With her unfailing encouragement during my stage of newborns and toddlers, I became the best mother I could be. We mothered our children while taking walks with strollers and backpacks, planting gardens, sharing seeds and advice, canning tomatoes and jams, wallpapering my kitchen, learning from weekly Bible studies and laughing often. Later, Lena taught my daughters to love reading and learning as their dedicated teacher. This photo is from April, 1982. Our two families held the first Easter sunrise service by ourselves, praying for God to start a Nazarene Church in Keeseville. I will forever be blessed by my friendship with Lena and her family. Heaven is a bit brighter because she is there. Those of us left on earth are a bit emptier without her. But, oh the joy of a reunion in glory when we are reunited for all eternity!
