Leo J. Chermak, Vestal, NY age 92 passed away at home on August 11, 2025. He was predeceased by parents Henry and Mary Chermak, and brothers Edmund, Eugene, Thomas, and Herman. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carole, and children Peter (Marie), Patrick (Carolyn), Kimberly (Timothy), and Robert (Andrea), as well as ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by siblings Ruth, Polly, and Bruce.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and the Vestal Elks #2508. He graduated from Union-Endicott High School. Leo served in the Army as a tank commander during the Korean War then went to college on the G.I. Bill. He attended Clarkson for two years then graduated from Siena.
Leo retired from IBM Endicott after 37 years and was a past president of the Quarter Century Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and bowler. Leo will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Funeral Services for Leo will be held on Monday, August 18th at 12 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends on Monday at the Allen Memorial Home from 11 am until service time at 12 pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude’s.
