Leo Curry Ducote

Leo Curry DuCote, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 30, 2025. A Louisiana native born December 29, 1939, and adopted by Joseph Curry “Duke” and Mary Louise (Smith) DuCote of Belcher, La. He attended LSU Baton Rouge and Northwestern University with a degree in animal husbandry. He later attended Centenary College for a degree in geology to assist with farming and oil production. He later found his niche as an outside sales representative for clean-air systems, where he could travel throughout the state he loved. Still working for Reed Industries until his final day, Leo was full of energy, tall tales, and a lot of good jokes. Leo loved both people and his furry friends as well. He could fix most anything, from electrical to mechanical, and instilled in his children and grandchildren the value of self-reliance.

Leo had many hobbies through the years and excelled at them all. From the sea to the air, you could find him fishing and diving in the ocean or flying high in the sky in his Cessna 174. But his true love was golf and his kitty, Suzy.

 He loved his family deeply and leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Leanna (Auchard) DuCote. His legacy lives on, and he will forever be missed by his children: Sherri (Johnny) Rowland, Julie DuCote, Lee (Alicia) DuCote, Joe (Claire) McDonald, and Natalie (Chuck) Smith.

His grandchildren, Trey (Jessica) Cockrell, Lauren Cockrell, Emily (Anthony) McMaster, Alex (Melissa) Stewart, Brandi Stewart, Dylan DuCote, Shannon (Sonia) Butler, Trey McDonald, Ava, Jackson, and Mia Smith will have many stories to tell and memories to share with his great-grandchildren, Michael Cockrell, Francis, Thomas and Emma McMaster, and Liam, Blair, and Tyler Butler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Peniston, Rick Githens, Randy Allums, and Don Drake, as well as his Saturday golf group: Bud Dean, Larry Joubert, Larry Malone, David Outlaw, Jeff Colston, Richard Jennings, David Smith, and Jack Zator.

Service to honor Leo’s memory will take place Saturday, December 6, 2025, at First Methodist Church, Couch Chapel, 500 Common Street, Shreveport, LA. 9:00 am visitation in the Couch Parlor prior to the service at 10:00 am. The family asks for prayers during this time of grief, and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Leo’s honor to the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter, Humane Society of NWLA, or a charity of their choice.
