In Loving Memory of Roger “Leon” Prier. Leon Prier, 75, of Independence Missouri, went home suddenly to be with his Lord on August 16, 2025. Born December 4, 1949, in Licking Missouri to Benjamin "Frank" and Alma (Ritz) Prier. Leon lived a life of faith, honesty, and love. Leon was a Navy veteran and served in the Vietnam War.

For over 33 years, he shared his life with his sweetheart, Sheryl Hutsler. He was a proud and loving father to Kristi (Jon) Mellon and Doug (Samantha) Prier and cherished his bonus family with Sheryl: Kyle, Ryan (Brook), and Todd. His greatest joy was seeing his children grow and prosper.

He had a passion for work and details. He was a skilled carpenter for over 50 years. He also had a passion and love for horses. Owning, breeding, and racing for many years.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and Ralph; and brother-in-law, Kirby Vanatta. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, youngest grandchild, Jackson Ray, Sheryl, his siblings, extended family, and many, many friends.

Leon will be deeply missed and remembered for his unwavering faith, his character, and the way he lived out his honest and simple life.
