Matthew John Stubler, Jr passed away August 19, 2025 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Matt was born December 31, 1936, to Matthew John, Sr and Mary Stubler on Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, Kansas. He held the Hill close to his heart. He practiced his Catholic faith from St. John’s Church and the school, and later at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. He attended Donnelly College and Longview College.
He worked for Bendix and King Radio for many years, and later as a residential builder.
Matt’s passion was cars and trucks, especially his 1989 Dodge truck he bought new. His classic 1978 Ford that belonged to his dad was very special. He and wife, Shelda, attended many car shows, and he received several awards where he showed his cars.
Matt is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Shelda, who he shared 39 years of marriage with. Also surviving are his three living children: Karen Bellmer (Tom), Robert Stubler (Kari), and David Stubler (Chris). He also leaves two stepdaughters, Sherri Lancour and Shelly Jewell, 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mae Sparks, and daughter-in-law, Ginny Stubler. He is also survived by uncles Ray Stubler and Bill Stubler, and special friends Bob and Patty Jensen.
His son, Matthew John Stubler III, a son-in-law Floyd Lancour, and a grandson Daniel Rumfelt preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm on Thursday, August 28 at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church in Grandview, with visitation beginning at 11am. A private burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.
