Leonard Vaughn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Airsman-Hires Funeral Home - White Hall on Dec. 7, 2023.
On December 6, 2023, Leonard Robert "Bob" Vaughn left this world for the next. Bob was born on December 10, 1934, to Roberta (nee Windsor) "Burt" Vaughn who preceded him in death. Bob was also preceded in death by his sister. Bob is survived by his wife Veronica "Ronnie" (nee Tipsord) Vaughn of Hillview and his former wife and mother of his three sons Donna (nee Hess) Vaughn of Plainfield. Bob leaves behind his sons Michael (Cassie) Vaughn of Plainfield, Dwayne (Claudette) Vaughn of Bloomington, and Mark "Scooter" (Lisa) Vaughn of Crosby, Tennessee. Bob is also survived by the sons he helped Ronnie raise through the teen years, John (Candace) Baker of Bonita, Florida, Matthew Baker of Hillview, and Phillip (Jeanell) Baker of Naples, Florida. Bob is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will dearly miss "Grumpy Gramp"
Bob graduated from East Alton Wood River Community High School and worked for G.M. & O railroad as a telegraph operator for 20 years. Bob's next career phase included his own business, working as a handy man, and maintenance supervisor at McLean County nursing home. Bob then took the opportunity to learn about those new inventions, computers, and graduated from Parkland Community College. He then worked for AT&T on computers. Bob ultimately retired from the company, now Lucent Technology, and convinced Ronnie to join him in their dream home in Hillview.
Bob made many friends, helped his neighbors, and loved his home. He will be missed.
Cremation rights have been observed and a celebration of life will be held at later date.
Memorials may be made to the G.M. & O Railroad Historical Society (www.gmohs.org) or the Alzheimer's Association of Illinois. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com
