Lewis Bua passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born and raised in Lodi, New Jersey, Lewis led a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love of the outdoors. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. He embarked on his next great adventure, a lifelong commitment to his childhood sweetheart, Mary Ann, whom he met when they were just 15 and 14 years old. The couple married in 1961 and built a beautiful life together over more than six decades.
Lewis founded The Kitchen Shop in Pequannock, where he poured his heart and soul into his work for many years. His attention to detail, tireless work ethic, and keen sense of organization earned him great respect and success. A true outdoorsman, Lewis found peace and joy in nature. He loved hunting and fishing and was his happiest on horseback, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. Above all, Lewis was a family man. He dedicated himself to providing for and supporting those he loved, always placing family at the center of his life.
Lewis is lovingly survived by his beloved wife Mary Ann, his son Darren and his wife Deirdre, Devinn and his wife Carol, Dean and his wife Virginia, his grandchildren Karina, Sarah, Francesca, Dean Jr., and Alyssa. Lewis is predeceased by his siblings Annette, Tony, Michael, Frank, Phyllis, and Butch. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Scanlan's Funeral Home, 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444, from 4-7 PM. A funeral service will begin at 6 PM and will conclude with an Honor Guard Ceremony. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dementia Society of America in honor of Lewis.
