Lewis R. LaMaster, left this world on May 28, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 20, 1946, in Madison, Indiana, Lewis was the son of Ellsworth L. and Ferna A. Lynch LaMaster. He grew up in the close-knit community of Scottsburg, where he graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1965, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Lewis dedicated his life to service, first as a police officer for the Austin Indiana Police Department. His commitment to law enforcement extended beyond his badge; he became a Breath Test Certification Instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, sharing his knowledge and expertise with new generations of officers. He also worked as a Breath Test Certification Inspector at Indiana University State Dept. of Toxicology. His passion for safety and security led him to establish Sentry 22 Investigations Security Group, further cementing his legacy in public service.
A devoted family man, Lewis is survived by his daughters, Yvonne (John Paul) Herrmann and Machelle (Jon) Kizziah and his sons, Jeff (Stephanie) LaMaster and Mark (Carrie) LaMaster. He found great joy in his grandchildren, Andrew Kizziah, Audrey LaMaster, Ben LaMaster, Joseph Herrmann, and Allie LaMaster, all of whom were a constant source of pride and love. He is also survived by his dog, Bailey.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and Ferna LaMaster.
Lewis found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and shooting.
Lewis's life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 10:00 am Monday June 2, 2025 at the Scottsburg Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor the man he was.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the organization of your choice in Lewis's honor. Please share memories and condolences at www.collinsfuneralhome.net. Arrangements entrusted to Collins Funeral Home of Scottsburg.
