Obituary of Lily Maebelle Cole
Lily Cole, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, peacefully passed away at her home. She entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday December 17, 2023.
Lily was born on June 12, 1939 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She lived in Ottumwa until she was married. She was 84 years old.
She met her husband and soulmate of 65 years, David Cole at Ottumwa, Iowa Jr. High school at the age of 13. They dated all through school and married in 1958. Lily worked as a telephone switchboard operator and grocery store cashier to support she and Dave as Dave attended graduate school. Lily and Dave were avid travelers and lived in both Germany and England for several years. When they returned to Colorado, they started a small business called European Discovery Tours. They blessed many travelers by taking them to Europe and showing them all the unique places and sharing their extensive history knowledge. They made many treasured memories and friends along the way.
Their life long marriage blessed them with 2 children, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Lily was amazingly devoted to her family and treasured spending time with them.
Lily is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Mark Cole, Teresa Starck and husband Scott, 4 grandchildren, Natalie Kelly and husband Ryan, David Cole and wife Heidi, Brady Starck and Dustin Starck along with one great grandchild Everett Cole.
Lily is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nellie Saner, brother Charlie Saner, and grandparents.
Our wife and mom was a sweet and loving person, she was like a dove, pure and calm.
We learned patience, endurance, humility, and how to love unconditionally from her. She always brightened up your day and lightened your burdens.
We will forever love her, treasure her and deeply miss her until we see her again.
A private family memorial will take place at their home for 55 years in Loveland.
