It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of Linda "Linnie" Mae Barr. She left this world on October 21, 2024, at the age of 66 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born on April 8, 1958, in Jackson, MI, Linda's infectious laugh and boundless kindness touched countless lives.
Mark Barr, her beloved husband, won her heart one fateful St. Patrick's Day in 1979, leading to over four decades of unwavering partnership after their marriage on January 26, 1980. Together, they nurtured a family that became Linda's pride and joy: her children Aaron (Corrie Bass) Barr, Adam (Sara) Barr, and Amber (Jeff) Watkins. Each of her five grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Allison, Claire, and Charlotte, brought a sparkle to her eye and a special kind of love that only a grandmother can give.
For over 30 years, Linnie's Day Care was more than a business; it was a nurturing haven where she poured her love and care into the lives of children. She was an avid sports fan and always followed MSU football and basketball. Her reputation as an exceptional cook was well-earned, as she catered countless community events, leaving a legacy of culinary delights, particularly her famous cookies. She was the first to offer comfort through her cooking, sharing not just food but also love and solace to those around her. Her quick wit and sharp tongue were matched only by her ability to make friends with anyone and everyone. Linda's life was a testament to the belief that family is not just an important thing, it's everything.
In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Linda is survived by her 4 siblings, Cindi (Pete) Ormsby, Randy (Carolyn) Brown, Jeff (Shelly) Brown, and Becky (Ruben) Jimenez, sister in law Debbie (Fritz) Ordiway and brother in law Steve (Audrey) Barr, as well as her special friend Julie Venable. Linda is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Her parents, Bert and Susie Brown, her in-laws Edmund and Doris Barr, and sister-in-law Christina Lorencen, preceded her in death, and we take comfort in knowing they have welcomed her home with open arms.
Goodbye for now, Linda, but your spirit lives on in every life you've touched, every meal you've shared, and every laugh that echoes in our memories. You have left this world a brighter place, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Your legacy will continue to inspire us to live life to the fullest, with open hearts and open arms, just as you did.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt-Delhi Chapel, 5035 Holt Road, Holt, MI, with Rev. Steve Ezop officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00AM
