Linda "Jill" (George) Chandler passed away peacefully at home, Thursday morning, September 28th. She was 78 years old.
She is survived by her husband, Rick, her children, Dov and Erika, her sisters, Laurie and Jeffri, and her brothers Ryan and Greg, as well as several cousins. Jill (as she was known to most of her friends in later years) was born in Okanogan, Wa in 1945.
Her father, Paul George, was in the Air force, so she, her mother Dolores, and younger sister Laurie, lived in several places during her childhood; Okanogan, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, and England.
Later, her mother remarried Leonard Sass, and her brother Ryan was born. She graduated from Okanogan High School and was active as a cheerleader, in theater, and was "Princess Okanogan". She initially attended College at the University of Washington in Seattle and later graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham with a major in Art and a minor in Psychology. During that time she met and married Michael Friedman with whom she had her two children, Dov and Erika.
She later met and married Richard Chandler, who loved her deeply and cared for her until her last breath. Over the years she worked as a juvenile counselor, for Employment Security, for a small newspaper, and as a co-owner of a Bed and Breakfast with her sister Laurie. Jill found joy in cooking, the arts, reading, the beauty of the outdoors, animals, and also was truly delighted by the smile of a little child. The two sisters also wrote a cookbook together. Throughout her life, she also had several food related jobs from catering, to having a food blog before they were known, to writing a weekly newspaper food article.
She was known by friends and family for her amazing cooking and the way she gave her love, and of herself, through food. Most of all, besides that, she has been known for her great sense of justice for others, her loyalty, her strength, her beauty, and her sometimes fierce independence. Without a doubt, her class, grace, and intelligence have stood out above others.
She is loved insanely, and this most exceptional soul will be missed terribly.

I can't think of Jill without smiling. So many great school memories....the earliest of loving to sit with her, drawing whatever our imaginations created...her senior lead role, carefully practicing her Japanese fan dance movements....leading our rallies as cheerleader with Linda and Janice. She was funny, smart and wonderful, inside and out. Sending hugs and prayers for peace and comfort to all her family.....Sharma (Anderson) Shields
