Linda K Davis "Nan" was born on January 17, 1951, in Farris, Oklahoma, to James and Monnie Beatrice (Stewart) Dunham. She passed from this life on February 22, 2025, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, at the age of 74.
Nan lost her father at a young age and Tom Hargus became a loving stepfather to her after he and her mom were married. She began her school years in Cement, Oklahoma, and then transferred to Anadarko in the 3rd grade. Nan graduated from Anadarko High School and began working at Sequoyah Mills.
Nan met the love of her life, Waverly Kenneth Davis, while working at Sequoyah Mills in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and two years later they were married. Ken and Nan had two sons, Bryce and Brent, and Nan's life revolved around them, and later her grandchildren.
Ken was a coach for various schools, so where he moved, Nan's jobs moved. She worked several years at various banks in the area, including Anadarko, Cyril and Cement. Nan also was a teacher's aide at Cement, Oklahoma, and served as an assistant librarian at Anadarko High School. She became an office manager for a home health company in Anadarko, Oklahoma, which inspired her to go back to school and get a "real job". Nan went to college in 1998 and earned her Associates Degree in 2000. She became an LPN and worked as a nurse in the field she loved until her retirement. Nan had certainly proved to her family that it is never too late to pursue and achieve your goals and dreams. She was truly an inspiration.
During the summers, Nan could be found running the Red Oak Pool in Anadarko or the pool in Cyril. Her two "pool dogs", Bryce and Brent went along for the hours of fun in the sun, and loved every minute of it.
Nan was an avid baseball and basketball mom, and cherished every minute of supporting her two boys. However, that was nothing compared to the joy she found in being a Nan to her five grandchildren and supporting them in their various sports. The majority of the time in her later years, Nan could be found at some sporting event or another, or even attending karate matches.
Nan had many varied interests and hobbies. She especially loved painting and could often be found reading a good book. Nan was also known for her enjoyment of drinking Cokes and watching vampire movies. But nothing was as important to her as spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Loving them was what Nan was all about.
Nan is survived by her husband, Ken Davis, of the home, her two sons, Bryce Davis and wife Elizabeth of Anadarko, Oklahoma, and Brent Davis and wife Christa of Arkansas City, Kansas, her grandchildren, Kiley Crawford and husband Tyler of Yukon, Oklahoma, Blaine Davis of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Brynna Kay Davis of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Sterling Davis of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Benjamin Davis of Anadarko, Oklahoma, her brothers, Royce Dunham and wife Rita of Shattuck, Oklahoma, and Butch Hargus and wife Penny of Clinton, Oklahoma, her sister, Lisa Hargus-Noland of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nan is preceded in death by her parents, James and Monnie Beatrice (Stewart) Dunham, her stepdad, Tom Hargus, and her sister, Sharon Newport.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma (DSACO), 521 W. Wilshire Blvd., #130 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73116.
A funeral service to honor Nan is set to be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma, with Lynn Bellamy officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
