It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda J. Sauer, 80 of Ellington, formerly of Tolland and Manchester, on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Linda passed away at home, with her loving husband of 60 years and best friend, Christian "Chris" Sauer at her side.
Linda was born on April 13, 1944, in Lima, Ohio, one of two beloved children of the late Edward and Dorothy Potter. She was a graduate of Ellington High School, Class of 1962 and earned an associate degree from Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield.
Prior to her retirement in 2006, Linda was employed as a Senior Customer Service Representative for the former U.S. Envelope in Rockville which became Mead- Westvaco in Enfield, a career she truly enjoyed for over 41 years, creating many lifelong friendships with co-workers and clients.
In her spare time, Linda along with Chris were avid Square Dancers. She served as President of the former Windsor Old Towners Square Dancing Club and four specialty clubs, Mavericks, Astrals, Cosmos and John's Gems. They traveled extensively around the country to participate in many competitions and celebrations. Linda was a music lover; she was a talented organist and for a brief period served as the organist for Tolland Congregational Church. Much of her time was spent with her furry friends, as an animal lover, she had many pet cats over the years which gave her lots of joy. She had a passion for travel and vacationed in most states and about 20 different countries with a special fondness for river cruising.
In addition to her beloved husband, Chris, she leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Jean Potter of Vernon, and sister-in-law, Judy Sauer of Ocala, FL. Her eight much loved nieces and nephews; Dr. Karen Cadman and her spouse, Caleb of South Windsor, Dr. Wendy McQuade and her spouse, Andrew of Denton, TX, Steven Potter and his spouse, Sharon of Sherman Oaks, CA,, Petra Hartmann of Bloomfield, MI, Gabi Conrad of Boca Raton, FL, Jeffrey Sauer and his spouse, Mara of Rio Rancho, NM, Kristine Kraer and spouse Tito of Palm Coast, Fl and Eric Sauer and his spouse, Stevie of Ocala, FL and her cherished caregiver of over 2 years, Dinah Owiredu of Ellington. We also acknowledge the three years of excellent care provided by staff of Always There Home Care of Manchester.
