The following is an obituary written by her loving family.
Lise’ K. Goodnight-Crouch, affectionately known as “Mammaw”, ascended to her Heavenly reward on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. A proud native of North Salem, Indiana, born on February 16, 1956, to Phyllis & Rex Goodnight, Lise’ was the second of five children: Kyle, Erin, Neil, and Eric (who preceded her). Lise’ loved growing up on their dairy farm, milking cows, raising pigs and spending countless hours exploring the North Woods. She was active in 4H showing livestock and her sewing creations while gaining countless ribbons along the way. Lise’ played trumpet in band, sang in the chorus, was homecoming and prom queen, a cheerleader, and a proud Blue Devil! She was a 1974 graduate of North Salem High School.
Lise’ is the proud mother of Doug (Barbara), Teri (David) and Jeremy (Amy); proud Mammaw to Cody, Andrew, Elise, Noah, Abby, Eleanor and Calvin, and was reunited with our beloved Faith. Lise’ was loved unconditionally and forever by her husband and partner-in-crime of 35 years, Bob. She became part of a blended family in 1976 when Phyllis and Wayne Kidd married giving her sisters, Robin and Sharon (who preceded her) and brothers, Mike, Brian and Terry (who preceded her).
Known for her world-famous homemade noodles, beef stew and deviled eggs, no one left her table hungry. An avid gardener and extremely talented cook, Lise’ focused those talents and gifts to making her family happy. Her home always smelled of homemade treats, herbs and was adorned with plants. Lise’ loved animals, especially Siamese cats and hummingbirds. She leaves behind many, but has reunited with many more. Lise’ was our hummingbird; small yet mighty. She represented courage and strength, symbolizing inspiration in the face of adversity. A servant not just to her family, Lise’ served The Wayne Township Fire Department for ten years, The Lizton-Union Township Fire Rescue for 37 years, The IVFA for 37 years, sat on the Lizton Town Council for 20 years, numerous seasons as a softball coach and cross country/track/wrestling/baseball “Mom”, and devoted sixteen years to the citizens of Hendricks County as well as the State of Indiana serving as the Emergency Management Coordinator. Lise’ donated several feet of hair over the years to Locks of Love. Even in death, Lise’ placed others before herself as she was an organ and tissue donor.
Family requests those who attend her celebration wear purples and reds as they were Lise’s favorite colors. The celebration is informal. In Lieu of flowers Lise has selected the following charities: Misty Eyes Animal Center, The Gary Sinise Foundation for First Responders, The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. If you are compelled to send a bouquet, the family asks for small plants in lieu of fresh flowers so like Lise’s legacy, they can continue to grow.
Services have been arranged through Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home (Pittsboro) and Lise’s celebration will be at Your Venture Church, 7865 N.
