Lloyd Hurt Kellner, age 88, of Karnes City passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Jourdanton, Texas. He was born to Oscar Adolph Kellner, Sr. and Etta Lee Kellner (Hurt) on February 22, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas.
Lloyd graduated from Karnes City High School in 1954. After graduation he attended Baylor University and Southwest Texas..Lloyd worked in Victoria for the Railroad after attending college. He also worked in West Texas spraying crops and brush along side his good friend Henry Gardner, who also taught him how to fly. Lloyd began his life long ranching career learning at a young age from his dad on their family land. They raised cattle along with farming crops such as corn, milo, wheat and also cotton. After the passing of his dad, Lloyd continued to farm and ranch up until a year before his passing.
There are so many words to describe Lloyd. He loved to be spontaneous and on the go at all times. All it took were the words hunting, junk yard, flea market, auction or "Lets go fishing Papa" and he would be the first one in the truck. He loved to tinker with broke down equipment. Sometimes it was just to prove a point that he could get it going again. He loved driving around the ranch with Kevin, Jace and Kylie checking the cattle, deer feeders and taking pictures of everything insight. One of his favorite things to do was hunt and collect arrowheads. He made so many special memories that will be remembered by all his friends and family. The three best words to describe Lloyd was LOVING, CARING and KIND. These three things he did with all his heart and soul. He definitely was one of a kind and you were beyond blessed if you had him in your life.
Lloyd was a member of the First Baptist church in Karnes City. He attended this church with his family and had been a member since 1948.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Oscar "Sunny" Kellner and sister-n-law, Nina Kellner.
Lloyd is survived by his son Kevin Hierholzer (Jahnna); grandchildren, Jace Hierholzer, and Kylie Hierholzer; nephews, Kirk Kellner, and Trent Kellner. He is also survived by many cousins and great friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the funeral following beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Karnes City. The burial will follow at the Karnes City Cemetery.
