Lonnie Gene Batts, 57, of Farmersville, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1967, in Euless, Texas, to Billie Joe Batts and Mary Bell (Miller) Batts.
Lonnie was a beloved member of the Church of Prayer Christian Fellowship in Rockwall, Texas. His passion and forty + years as a professional mechanic, as well as, a specialist of transmission at Massey Cadillac made him a trusted and helpful figure, always willing to lend a hand, especially when it came to auto repairs.
He was known for his kind heart, his love for all things sci-fi, his devotion to Star Trek and Batts of all kinds, from Batman to Bat Plushies. A fan of the color purple, Lonnie found joy in life's little things, including his favorite game, Farkle. He graduated from Bland High School in 1985, and his life was filled with the love of his family, raising his three sons, fostering several infants, and helping with extended family, including Alexys and James Mahar.
For the last 15 years, Lonnie shared his life with the love of his life, Angela Mahar, who preceded him in death by only five days. Together, they created a lasting bond, and their love will never be forgotten.
Lonnie is survived by his children, Donny Gene Batts and wife Kim of Hewitt, Texas, Cody Wayne Batts of Dallas, Texas, and Robby Dewayne Batts of Merit, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of Journey, Lisa, Sterling, Marley, Lilly, and the soon-to-be-born Liam Gene Batts. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Standfield and husband Jerry of Merit, Texas; father Billie Joe Batts of Garland, Texas; brother Jerry Dean Standfield, Jr. and wife Brenda of Merit, Texas; and honorary siblings Rusty Thomas of Merit, Leah Thomas of Allen, Texas, and Jamie Thomas of Allen, Texas.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his beloved Angela Mahar and his grandparents, John W. (Bill) and Josephine Miller of Carrollton, Texas.
A visitation will be held at graveside in Merit Cemetery, Merit, Texas on February 1, 2025 at 11:00 am with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 am.
