Obituary
Lorraine Vera Ramey, 72, of Naugatuck died on April 6, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital. Born in Bronx, New York on October 3, 1950, a daughter of the late Walter and Gladys (Robinson) Arthur. Survived by her loving son James (Jessica Ortiz) Ramey III; grandchildren Lashe (Brianna) Ramey Cruz, Jazmine (Shadai) Cook, and Betty Ashley Rentas; great-grandchildren Nijah Lauren Cook, Kashtian Taylor Beltran, Nazaire Lamarr Cook, Milani Kimora Cruz, and Zaylia Rose Cruz; sister Sheila Arthur; aunt Elva President; nieces Charlene, Crystal, Amber and Topaz Arthur (Lavaughn) Graville; nephews Ernest, Andre, and Cory Arthur; grandnieces La Shaia Nicholas, La Shanta Nicholas, Palmer (LaTaysha) Knight; great-grandnieces Akailah as well as Amaya Knight. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by brothers Steve, Walter, Andrew, and Ronald Arthur, as well as nephew Desean Arthur.
After over twenty-five years of dedicated service in Administration, Lorraine retired from the State of New York Office Of Professional Discipline. Lorraine took great pleasure in singing during her young adult life, she also found enjoyment in arts and crafts, as well as listening to music.
Above all else, Lorraine was considered the great Empress of a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and wife. Family was of utmost importance, a testament of such by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom loving conveyed their "Nana" was a very loving soul. She remained present with a warm smile, caring words, comforting ways, and jokes ready to be cracked. A confidant to many, Lorraine will continue to be loved and deeply missed; although she has moved on from the physical realm and is now in Spirit with our ancestors, we are blessed that she will continue to watch over her family.
In accordance with her family's wishes, services will remain private at this time.
