A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 18th at 6:00 pm at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until the time of service. A private entombment will take place Friday at Forest Hill Mausoleum.
LuAnn was born on September 15, 1945, to Jim and Connie Vavrina. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963 and went on to work forty-four years at Neipp's, then Callahan's True Value Hardware. She also worked briefly at Ace Hardware before retiring to take on her most fulfilling role - Granny Nanny.
In her good years, LuAnn was part of many bowling and horseshoe leagues. She enjoyed going camping, painting ceramics, and reading Danielle Steele novels. She loved going on shopping adventures with her sister and nieces, spending time with her grandchildren - watching them participate in all of their activities and traveling to Arizona to love on her family there.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children Christina (Shad) Williams, Wisconsin Rapids, and James (Ashley) Langer, Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren Cori (Ethan) Hickcox, Peyton, Madison, and Lukas Williams; and Eva and Will Langer. Siblings Lana (Dan) Passineau, Terry (Barb) Vavrina, Sheldon Vavrina, Jeff (Kathy) Vavrina, and Jim Vavrina, and many special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jim and Connie Vavrina, father and mother-in-law Melvin and Clara Langer, brother Randy Vavrina, and sister-in-law Bonnie Vavrina.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and caregivers at the Aspirus Riverview Emergency Room and Medical/Surgical floor for the care, compassion and empathy given to LuAnn and her family.
In memory of LuAnn's fun-loving spirit, we ask that you raise a glass of Busch Light on ice, her drink of choice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association in her honor.
