Lucia Braca
Lucia Braca, 88, of Concord Twp., passed away March 1, 2024, after a rapid decline in health.
Lucia was born on June 22, 1935, in East Cleveland.
Lucia graduated from Harvey High School in 1953, she was an avid reader, but also known for enjoying gardening, traveling, crafting and the arts. Lucia was always a steadfast presence in her families' lives. As a result, her shared passions inspired everyone around her. In her spare time, she volunteered within the community of St. Gabriel Church. Her favorite times were spent helping to organize events and cook pierogies for the annual festival. She was instrumental in starting their Food Bank and continued to volunteer weekly, up until 2020. She was an active member of the Christ Child Society, the Mission Circle, the Lake County Democratic Ladies Club, the Lake County Historical Society, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society.
She worked for Clevite Inc., as a data processor and retired as a claims processor for the Ohio Lottery.
Lucia is survived by her nieces, Alanna (Tim) Rickel, Nicole and Julianne Kohankie, and Kathryn (Chris) Kraft; great-nephew, Bodi Yowell; great-niece, Abigail Kraft; several cousins in the Minadeo, Levi, and Mangine families; the beloved Metz's; and many cherished friends.
Lucia was preceded in death by her parents, Julia (nee Mangine) and Nicola, as well as sisters Karman Wilson and Rita (Alan, dec.) Kohankie.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio at 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, north of Rt. 2), in Mentor. Mass to follow at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp.

Lucia has been a great friend to me for over 65 years. Her younger sister Rita and I were best friends since childhood and Lucia was always there for us... and we continued our friendship through the years. I have wonderful memories of our times together. I am so sorry I won't make it for her funeral. Lucia was an amazing aunt and 2nd mother to her 4 nieces who will miss her dearly. My love & prayers are with them as they grieve her loss. May Our Heavenly Father welcome Lucia to her Heavenly Home where she will be reunited with family and friends.

Have many good memories of Lucia through our working together at the Food Pantry. She and Bob shared stories from when they worked at Clevite. She was very honored when asked to cut the ribbon at the dedication of the addition to the Food Pantry

I will miss all her stories and her great cooking. If I needed a question answered about food I would call her! She always inspired me because she did so very many good things. I loved my friend and will truly miss her, but I know heaven is rejoicing! Please watch over us all Lucia! April

Lucia was a wonderful woman. I knew her for many years through the Democratic Party. She even came to visit me my first day on the job at St. Gabriel's. Rest in Peace!

I had been friends with Lucia for 15 years. I walked Winston, for many years. In return Lucia would bake me gluten free biscottis, which were delicious. I miss her gravely voice and her kind support.
