Lucy P. Geise

Canandaigua – Lucy (Polimeni) Geise, age 98, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, with her family by her side. She is survived by three loving children, Joan Geise, John "Jack" (Betsy) Geise and Robert Geise (Tim Gleason); four grandchildren, John Michael (Crystal) Geise, Eleanor (Ben) Wasserman, Lucca and Sophia Gleason-Geise; three great-grandchildren, Teddy Geise, June and Pearl Wasserman; sisters-in-law, Ellen and Rosalie Polimeni; brother-in-law, Dick (Shirley) Geise; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 49 years, John B. Geise, in 2001; and eight siblings, Dominic Canali, Josephine LeGrett, James Canali, Mary Megale, Ann Canali, Jeanne Newell, John Polimeni and Vincent Polimeni.
Lucy was born and raised in Canandaigua and was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Zoccali) Polimeni. She was a lifelong resident of Canandaigua. Lucy graduated from St. Mary's School, class of 1937 and Canandaigua Academy, class of 1941 and Canandaigua Business School. Lucy's work career began at the VA Medical Center. After a break to raise her family, she worked for the Ontario County District Attorney and eventually retired as secretary to Ontario County Court Judge, George Reed.
Lucy served her community on various boards including, President of the Canandaigua Board of Education, Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes, Urban Renewal Agency, Ontario County Historical Society, Neighbor-to-Neighbor and Thompson Health's Continuing Care Center.
Lucy always had time for her many nieces and nephews, providing love, support and an endless supply of food, recipes and sour cream cookies. The family would like to extend special thanks to Ellen, Anna and Chris Polimeni, Brian Dennis and Kathy Pankratz, for their loving care and support of Lucy.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, at 11am, at St. Mary's Church,
95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. Lucy was an avid reader her entire life, therefore in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
