Luz Celenia Valentin, lovingly known as Lucy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 88 in Lakeland, Florida.
Born on October 20, 1936, in Bayamn, Puerto Rico, Lucy was the beloved daughter of Jose and Bienvenida Seise. She married the love of her life, Victor Valentin, on October 2, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. Together they built a life grounded in love, family, and faith.
Lucy was a devoted caregiver and homemaker whose warmth and strength touched the lives of many. She lived in Puerto Rico, New York, and Florida, bringing her vibrant spirit and strong Catholic faith everywhere she went. A faithful member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Lakeland, she found great comfort and purpose in her beliefs.
She found joy in the simple pleasuresgardening, cooking for her family, and listening to music that lifted her soul. Her nurturing nature extended not only to her loved ones but also to her cherished cat, Missy.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Sandra Heath (Gary), and daughter-in-law Susan Valentin, wife of her late son, Victor Valentin. She was a proud Nana to Zachary Heath, Jacob Heath, Thomas Tyler Valentin, Jason Valentin, Colby Valentin, and Sabrina Kohler. Her family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering faith.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. and a graveside committal.
Lucy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her
