Graveside services for Lyman Redgate will be 4:00p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Memorial Hill Cemetery with Ryan Redgate officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka. Following the graveside there will be a gathering at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall for sandwiches.
Lyman Kent Redgate, son of the late Luther Edwin (L.E.) and Cleo Merle (Bosley) Redgate, was born December 20, 1947, at Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away September 10, 2024, at the Care Home in Attica, Kansas, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 21 days.
Lyman attended Waynoka Schools graduating in 1966. He received his Bachelor of Art degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He proudly served in the Air National Guard and then began working for the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. On September 23, 1972, he was united in marriage to Lois Ann Scott in Anthony, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children: Lori, Landon, and Lyle.
He was a member of the Elm and Murrow Church of Christ. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Lyman especially enjoyed the annual Rattlesnake Hunt in Waynoka where he has had the largest snake in years past. Gardening was one of his hobbies and he enjoyed sharing his harvest with his neighbors and friends.
Lyman was preceded in death by his parents, L.E. and Cleo Redgate.
He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his children, Lori Redgate and David, of Copan, Landon Redgate and wife, Nikki, of Anthony, Kansas, and Lyle Redgate and wife, Karma, of Attica, Kansas; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Hailey, Allison, Zoie, Chase, Leah, Lexi, Keith, Jennifer and husband, Justin, Mackenzie, Bailey, Chelsea and Chase H.; five great grandchildren; brothers, Max Redgate and wife, Debra, of Waynoka, and Steve Redgate and wife, Connie, of Waynoka; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Waynoka Saddle Club or the Waynoka FFA.
