Margaret Ann (Broadhead) Moye, 91, of
Mt. Vernon, IN passed away on May 24, 2025 at the Heart to Heart Hospice House, surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born on May 7, 1934, in Upton, west of
Mount Vernon, IN, to Walter and Lillian (Lupton) Broadhead. She was the salutatorian of the MVHS Class of 1951 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Evansville College. Margaret began her teaching career at Vogel Elementary School in Evansville, where she taught from 1955 to 1958, and later served as a reading specialist in Mount Vernon.
She earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Evansville, as well as a Master's Degree in Library Science from Indiana State University. Margaret was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, where she served faithfully for many years-as the children's librarian, a vacation Bible school teacher, and an active supporter of the United Methodist Women.
Margaret was a member of Beta Sigma Omicron sorority at the University of Evansville, the Mount Vernon Tri Kappa chapter, and the Tuesday Club. She was a passionate advocate for the natural environment and loved spending time outdoors, especially picking raspberries. A devoted patron of the arts, she enjoyed attending local concerts and theater productions and took great joy in introducing young people to the arts. She treasured every piece of artwork created by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An enthusiastic traveler, Margaret loved exploring the world with her family, including a memorable overland trip to Alaska in 1972, as well as later adventures to England and across Europe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter Broadhead, Jr.; husband, Don Moye, who she married in 1957 and who died in 1996; and husband, Kenneth Bartlett, who she married at age 80 and who passed away in March 2025.
She is survived by her son, Bret Moye (Trudy); daughter, Melissa Moye (Randy Barber); brother, Kenneth Broadhead (Beverly); grandchildren, Holly Lange (Adam) and Amy Burkett (Danny); and 4 great-grandchildren, Jolene Burkett, and Ty, Georgia and Walter Lange. She is also survived by extended family, including beloved nieces and nephews, and her cousin, Beth Ann Emrick of Tucson, Arizona
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, 601 Main St.,
Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Christopher Millay officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am service time at the church on Wednesday.
The family would like to acknowledge staff at West River Health, Ascension Health Care and Heart to Heart Hospice in Evansville for the thoughtful care provided to Margaret in recent months.
