Celebrating the Life of Margaret "Cookie" Pittman
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Margaret Pittman, affectionately known as Cookie, who peacefully departed this life on February 13, 2025 at her residence. Born on February 15, 1953, to the late Alfred and Rosa Lee Taylor, Cookie brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cookie's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She joined Beulah Baptist Church at an early age and, in 2019, rededicated her life, reaffirming her deep connection with God.
She had a zest for life that was evident in the things she loved most-fishing, playing gin rummy and spades, enjoying horror movies, and cherishing moments of self-care and pampering. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family, who were the heart of her world.
Cookie was the life of any party-her humor was infectious, and she loved to laugh, bringing joy and warmth to everyone around her. Whether through a funny story, a playful joke, or her radiant smile, she had a way of making even the darkest days a little brighter.
Among those she held dearest were DeAnthony Pendleton, Davon Banks, Makiyah James, Michael Kay, Paris Kay, Jayce Brown, and Zayne Burton, whom she lovingly called her guardian angels. Their bond was one of love, joy, and unwavering connection.
Cookie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alfred and Rosa Lee Taylor; her cherished daughter, Tracy Kay; her dear sister, Anna Mae Kay; and her brother, Alfred Taylor Jr.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her children: Teresa Kay of Caroline County and Jesse Kay Jr. (Sylvia) of Virginia Beach. Her memory will also be treasured by her devoted sisters, Pauline Kay (Rev. Otis) and Brenda Coles (Richard), both of Spotsylvania.
Cookie's love extended to the next generations, and she will forever be remembered by her two grandchildren, Conrad Harris III and Shania Harris, and her great-granddaughter, little Aubri Logan, who will grow up hearing stories of her warmth and kindness. She also leaves behind her uncle, John Wilson (Coreen) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whose lives she touched in countless ways.
Through every joy and every challenge, Cookie was blessed with the love of her devoted cousins, Jimmy Brown and Deloris Robinson and her lifelong friend, Betty Green. She was also blessed with her Goddaughter, Briana Addison; Godson, John Brown; and her riding partner, Makayla Young, who stood by her side through thick and thin.
Though she has left this earthly home, Cookie's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will remain a guiding light, reminding us always to cherish the moments, find joy in every day, and live life to the fullest-just as she did.
