Margaret Ann Rogers

Margaret Ann Rogers, better known as Marge, has passed away at the age of 82. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 24, 1943 to Adam and Veronica "Vera" Valatkas. She was second oldest of five children. Growing up, Marge loved dancing and having parties. As a young adult, Marge married and had two sons, Mickey and Al. Unfortunately, the marriage ended and Marge moved with her boys to California to start a new life. Shortly thereafter, she had another son, Mark. Along the way, Marge landed a job at St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange, CA where she worked in the surgery scheduling department for 50 years. She was beloved by many doctors and nurses for her hard work and dedication as well as her fun and sassy spirit. This job became her main income, but as a single mom she was always looking for other ways to add some income to the pot. She did babysitting, often for the doctors, and even was known to iron shirts for a fee. She even worked as an assistant to a mortgage broker for a period of time.

Marge had a few relationships, but mostly remained single as she valued her independence. Aside from her boys, Marge formed a deep relationship with one young lady, Carrie Lemmons, who she considered as a daughter. Carrie, was the first to make Marge a grandmother, thus changing Marge's world forever. Marge had several grandkids and even more great-grandkids. Anytime spent with them filled her with joy.

Aside from the grandkids, Marge liked to go on road trips, listen to country music, play bingo, play slots at the casino, go out to eat and read books.

She is preceded in death by her parents Adam and Vera and also two siblings, Jeanette and Adam Jr. She is survived by her children Al, Mickey, Mark, and Carrie as well as her daughter in law Cheryl and all her grandkids and great-grandkids. She is also survived by two younger siblings, Tony Valatkas, and Ann Hopkins.

A celebration of her life has yet to be determined although it will be small and intimate. In lieu of flowers, we just ask you to treat someone you love to dinner or fun activity. Life is short. Enjoy your family while you can!
