Margaret Virginia Wilhoit Sanner, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday night at a local hospital after an illness. She was preceded in death by her parents - John LaFayette Wilhoit and Mary Ruth Brown Wilhoit. She was a graduate of Tyner High School and of the University of Chattanooga. While at UC, she was a member of Phi Mu sorority, was elected to Whos Who in American Colleges and Universities, was a member of the Alpha Scholastic Society, received the Outstanding Senior Woman Award, and was co-editor of the University Echo. She was an employee of CIGNA, and was also retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company. She is survived by two sons - Art Sanner of Chattanooga and David C. Alan of Washington D.C.; three sisters - Mary Wilkey of Chattanooga, Martha Franklin of Smyrna, Georgia, and Sarah Burkholder of Germantown, Maryland; one brother - Dr. John Wilhoit of Hawthorne, Florida; one grandson - Marshall Sanner of Chattanooga; and her companion of 18 years, W. David Scott of Red Bank. Graveside services will be held Wednesday July 16th at 1pm at Chattanooga Memorial Park on Memorial Drive in Red Bank with Rev. Fredrick C. Sanner officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 15th at Heritage Funeral Home on East Brainerd Road in Chattanooga from 2pm-4pm and from 6pm-8pm.
