Born on May 29, 1929, in Newark, New Jersey, to Joseph and Margaret Restaino, Marie's life was a testament to the strength and warmth that defined her very essence.
From her early years at Barringer High School in Newark, Marie's spirited nature and loving heart were evident to all who knew her. Her education there marked the beginning of a life filled with joy, challenges, and accomplishments. After completing her schooling, Marie embarked on a fulfilling career with Pathmark, where she dedicated 25 years of service, retiring as a respected front-end manager. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the countless customers she greeted with her warm smile.
Marie's life was deeply rooted in her Christian faith, which guided her through the joys and sorrows of life. She was a steadfast pillar in her community, sharing her love for the Lord through her actions and her kind words. Marie was a shining example of a faith-filled life, and her spirit touched everyone she met.
Beyond her professional and spiritual pursuits, Marie was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Al DeMaio, her parents, Joseph and Margaret Restaino, her brothers, Alfred, William, Andrew, Joseph, and Harry, and her sisters, Pauline Onorato, Katherine Maino, and Margaret Stevens. She carried the memory of her departed loved ones with grace and cherished the legacy they left behind.
She is survived by her adoring family, including her daughter, Linda Markarian and husband Michael, and her son, Vincent DeMaio and wife Karen. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Melissa Licciardo, Brian Markarian and wife Christine, Rider DeMaio and wife Gabby, Brooke Ippolito and husband Dennis, Dawn and Heather DeMaio, and Holly Harking. Marie's joy was multiplied with the birth of each of her great-grandchildren, Carlie Houston and husband Bobby, Gage Licciardo, Sawyer and Casey Markarian, Vincent, Ellie, and Olivia Ippolito. She is also remembered by twenty nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Marie's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, resilience, and faith. Her presence was a gift to her family and to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
