Marie Scoggins Massengill

Marie Scoggins Massengill, 97, died on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at home in Ringgold, Georgia. She was a life long resident of the Ringgold and East Ridge area, attended Salem Baptist Church, a Class of 1947 graduate of Ringgold High School and an active member of Scenic City Friends. A daughter of the late John and Mattie Scoggins, Marie was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Marvin Rudolph Massengill; as well as five sisters Lillie Ware, Lois Cornelison, Barbara Ensley, Johnnie Bramlett, Linda Forester; two brothers Frank Scoggins and Donald Scoggins.

Survivors are her children, Sandra (Raley) Gillian, Peachtree City, Ga., Daryl (Cindy) Massengill, Ringgold, GA, Susan (Ernie) Pierce, Ringgold, GA, and Lori Massengill, Ringgold, GA. Grandchildren, Kristen Gillian Hooper, Guthrie, OK, Lee Gillian, Opelika, AL, Rachael Massengill (Stephen) Fischer, Athens, GA, and Ben Massengill, Atlanta, GA. Great Grandchildren, Raley Marie Hooper and Charlie Hooper, Guthrie, OK and Evan Gillian, Opelika, AL; sister Reba Payne, Calhoun, GA; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Laura, Jennifer, Shelby, and Pastor Steve for their dedicated service through Hearth Hospice care.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22, 4:00-7:00 at Heritage Funeral Home, 3239 Battlefield Pkwy, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742

Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 23 at 3:00 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
