Marilyn Galyan, 68, of Bloomington passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Hearthstone Health Campus with her family by her side.
She was born on August 16, 1956 in Bloomington, Indiana to Donald and Martha (Wiemer) Smith. She was a 1974 graduate of Bloomington High School South. In 1976 she married Bruce Galyan, her high school sweetheart, and they were happily married for forty-eight years.
Marilyn worked in Mortgage Loans at various locations for many years before retiring from Cook Medical in Customer Service in 2022.
Most of all Marilyn loved her family. She enjoyed watching her grandkids play football, baseball, softball, play in the band and orchestra, and watching her granddaughter participate in the Special Olympics. They were her pride and joy! She will be greatly missed by them all! If she wasn't watching the kids play ball, she also loved spending time crocheting and reading.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Bruce Galyan of Bloomington; her children, Josh (Rose) Galyan of Solsberry; Jill (Rob) Burkhart of Spencer; Jody (Abby) Galyan of Chrisney, IN; nine grandchildren; Logan, Anna, Jared, Kaity, Brianna, Michael, Andi, Madi and Megan; and three great grandchildren; Oaklyn, Harper and Jase.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald & Martha Smith; her brother, Russell Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery 4000 W. Delap Rd Ellettsville, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Kidney Foundation.
