Marilyn B. (Main) Jerbert, 85, of Clinton, CT passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Ocean Meadows Senior Living and Memory Care in Clinton, CT. She was the wife of the late Arthur H. Jerbert. Born in North Stonington, CT on October 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Silas Everett and Alice Evelyn (Dawley) Main.
Marilyn grew up and spent her life in North Stonington, Connecticut, later teaching Sunday School at the Third Baptist Church, leading a Brownie troop (Girl Scouts), and then serving as the Girl Scouts' Service Unit Chair for our region all while teaching and raising her three children. A graduate of Wheeler High School, Bryant College and having earned her Masters Degree in Business Education at URI, Marilyn worked as a Teacher at Wheeler HS, New London School of Business and Griswold HS for over 30 years before retiring at the end of 2007. In 2003, she was selected by the Connecticut Business Education Association on its 100th anniversary as its Business Teacher of the Year. After retiring, she worked at the North Stonington polls for several years. Even though she was a hard worker, she knew how to enjoy life. She loved music, theater, gardening, hiking, nature and traveling. She traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Norway, Bermuda, Australia, New Zealand as well as Amelia Island, New Orleans, the West Coast, Key West, and Charleston. In 2007, she worked with her husband, Arthur, to create the Remembrance Book for North Stonington 's Bicentennial. She loved spending time with all of her friends, including, amongst others, Millie, and the Goddesses (Lee, Andrea, Kathy and Jan). She possessed a great love of nature and enjoyed frequent walks spotting birds and wildlife often pausing to soak up a beautiful day. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, getting everyone together to cook delicious family dinners featuring her famous baked goods such as pumpkin whoopie pies, French apple cake, and Swedish Coffee Cake. Having overcome endometrial cancer in 2008, Marilyn was a lover of life, adventures and people. When asked where she wanted to go or what she'd like to do on any given day, she'd always reply, "It doesn't matter where we go or what we do, I'm just happy to be with you!"
She leaves her children Evelyn Hale, Carolyn Baker-Reck (husband Steve) and Daniel Baker (wife Amy) ; grandchildren Merritt Hale (wife Paige), Stephen Reck, Margaret Hale (fiancé Yungton Yang), Kylie & Bowen Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Alice Main, and her brother, Roger Main, her nephew, John Main, son-in-law, Ronald Hale, sister-in-law, Charlotte Sheehan, and former husband, Elwood (Woody) Baker and second husband, Arthur H. Jerbert.
