Our mother, Marilyn McCune Justice, 89, died peacefully August 17 at her home. She was born March 28, 1936 to Howard (Mac) and Corinne Robbins McCune in Painesville, Ohio. Grandpa, First Mate for the Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes, barely got Grandma off the ship in time for Marilyn's arrival. This dramatic beginning foreshadowed Mom's lifelong passion for cruising. Her travels to all seven continents were a testament to her adventurous spirit and her joy in discovering the world's beauty and diversity.

Marilyn was a true Frankfort girl. Her grandfather, Oscar Robbins, served as mayor and she grew up frequenting VanMeter's Bakery, Eldrick's Grocery, the Frankfort Theater, and Orr Hardware. Marilyn attended Frankfort High School, but graduated from Chillicothe when she moved to help run her family's ice cream store. She attended Ohio University.

Marilyn dedicated her life to raising her four children: Mark (Pam) Justice, Mila (Cliff) Rowe, Dana Justice (deceased), and Kylee (Dan) Justice-Utt. Her home on Cherokee Road was a hub of activity, where she warmly welcomed all her children's friends. The basement was a lively place, often filled with slumber parties, Boy Scout meetings, and band practices. Later, at her home on Church Street, she hosted memorable family dinners and holiday celebrations.

An avid reader, Marilyn also enjoyed painting, knitting, and cooking. She loved seeing her backyard pool filled with her grandchildren: Heather (Paul) Bailey, Corinne Justice, Bryan (Courtney) Justice, Blaine Rowe, Callie Rowe, Luke Utt, and Bishop Utt. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Gabe, Elijah, and Abby Justice, and Jack and Mark Bailey. Her dog, Snowball, was a great comfort to her during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was most proud that her children love and serve the Lord, a truth reflected in the verse, "Her children arise and call her blessed" from Proverbs.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Harold, and her son Dana. She received loving care from her family, the new friends she made at NCR Hospice, and Monica Hardesty. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
