Marilyn Ruth Roberts

Marilyn R. Roberts (Morden) age 90 passed away July 1, 2024, in Loveland, CO. She was born in Carroll, Iowa and grew up in Scranton, Iowa. At one year of age, she won the Iowa State Fair competition for Healthiest Iowa Baby. She was a member of the Scranton High School Band and became an accomplished pianist. She graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1951 from Scranton High School.
Marilyn had many interests. She was a seamstress, United Methodist Church organist, piano teacher, an artist and a lifelong dog lover. Her jobs included Bank Teller, Real Estate Agent for The Group. LLC., and Entrepreneur. Being creative, she began a successful business making pillows. "Dog Bone Pillows" became a success, and she owned the Trademark. She and friend, Jane Lake, started making the pillows in Jane's basement. She was involved in every aspect of the business. Because she loved to travel, she would drive on I80 and stop at businesses along the way to see if they wanted to buy and sell her pillows.
She loved to travel and loved her family. Because of her adventurous spirit, Marilyn would surprise her family by suddenly appearing at family gatherings after traveling hundreds of miles. To her it seemed perfectly logical and humorous to suddenly appear without advanced notice.
She loved outdoor activities. In her younger years she enjoyed camping and hiking. Sitting around a campfire and singing songs along with her family made her happy. After moving to her beloved Colorado, she even climbed mountain trails.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ruth Morden, brother Donald, her first husband Dale and husband Gene. She is survived by three daughters, Deb Munson (Richard) of Loveland, CO, Teri Boese (Greg) of Iowa City, IA and Maggy Lamp (Steve) of Loveland, CO; five grandchildren, Andy of Ames, IA and Katie of Casper, WY, Emily of San Diego, CA and Brian of Iowa City, IA, and Abby of Littleton, CO; 6 great-grandchildren, Reid and Graham of Iowa City, Henry of Littleton and Max, Maisie, and Liam of Casper, WY; her brother Robert (Annette) of Florida; many nieces and nephews, friends and loving caregivers.
A memorial service is planned for a later date. Her ashes will be placed in Jefferson, IA cemetery beside her parents.
