MARION D. TASSO
August 21, 1931 – May 22, 2025
Marion D. Tasso (nee Paccione) passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family.
Marion was born on August 21, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, and spent her childhood in Bay Ridge. She married her husband John P. Tasso, Jr., on September 23, 1951. They subsequently moved to Staten Island in 1961 where they raised their three daughters. She and John were married for 57 years before his death in 2008. She is also predeceased by her parents, Michael and Anna Paccione, her sister Marie Paccione and her brother Lenny Paccione. She is survived by her three daughters, Maria Longo (Vincent), Roseanne Celic (Tom-deceased 2001), and Elana Kircher (Steven); three grandchildren, Allyson Kircher, Christian Kircher, and Sharon McMahon (Patrick); and one great-grandson, Caden McMahon. She also leaves behind her beloved pup, Bentley, whom she adopted in 2019.
Marion was a member of the parish of Our Lady Queen of Peace for over 35 years, and assisted at Mass as a Eucharistic Minister. She often visited hospital patients and shut-ins administering communion to them. She also volunteered for, and later became a Board Member of, AVSP (A Very Special Place)-an organization very close to her heart. She enjoyed many other activities, including socializing with friends and her many cousins, bowling weekly on a mixed league, and golfing as often as she could. As a lifelong Yankees fan, she watched almost every game and would become very animated with comments and her own play-by-play to encourage her team to victory. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends for holidays and birthdays. She also had a special talent for doing counted cross-stitch and gifted her beautiful creations to friends and family, as well as donating them for auctions to raise funds for AVSP. But Marion's true talent was in her sewing abilities: she was accomplished seamstress and created everything from prom dresses, coats (complete with full linings! No small feat!), outfits for her daughters for Easter and Christmas, Halloween costumes (which she would design herself), and even doll clothes for the girls' Barbies.
Marion was a homemaker until her three daughters were in school when she joined the workforce, first working as a secretary at Staten Island Community College (now CSI). After that, she joined Staten Island Savings Bank (now Santander) where she rose through the ranks, eventually earning her Associates Degree in Banking from Fairfield University in 1983. She was well-respected for her work ethic and retired as a Vice President. After retirement, she and John enjoyed traveling. She was always on the go. No grass grew under Marion's feet!
We will remember Marion as a strong, intelligent, independent woman, who spoke her mind, had a quick sense of humor, and a fierce love for her family, and devotion to her friends.
Her wake will be held on Friday, May 30th, from 4 pm to 9 pm at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY 10036.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church (61 New Dorp Lane) on Saturday, May 31st, at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery.

I will miss my beautiful godmother. Ann and I went to visit Aunt Marion October 2023. I was on a mission to spend quality time with her. We had a great time visiting. She was so full of life and stories. We spent four days together laughing and reminiscing about earlier times. She shared family recipes with Ann. She was able to get around well with her walker and she was sharp. While our time together was short, it was as if time stood still during our visit. Until it was time to go, I struggled saying goodbye. I will miss my beautiful godmother, but in my heart I know she is in a better place and at peace. Rest in peace Aunt Marion.
Love,
Carmen Paccione, Ann O´Donnell, Tyler & Josh

The world will be a little less bright without my beautiful Aunt Marion. I can’t imagine not being able to call and speak to her. My deepest condolences to all my cousins for the loss of this beautiful soul.
