Marion Juanita Wilkerson

Marion Juanita Wilkerson, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1939 in Springfield, Kentucky to the late James Robert and Hattie Mae Young. As a young girl of 13, her family relocated to New Albany, Indiana, where she lived the rest of her life. She later married Fallis Wilkerson and had 7 children. She lived a long life, but the Lord called her home.

She was baptized as a child in the Catholic church. Later in life she united with Covenant Life Christian Church and loved the teachings of Pastor Rick and how he taught the word of God. She loved the Lord and spoke often of how everything was in God's time, to trust Him, and that He can do no wrong. While there she served as an usher and enjoyed meeting and greeting people as they came in; always a peaceful woman and always smiling.

She retired from Airguard Industries after 23 years. She also went on to work at Value City for a few years. She loved colorful clothes and when asked she would help people choose outfits for various occasions. She liked playing cards and sports of every kind except hockey. She would watch sports or game shows all day long. She was particularly an avid fan of the Louisville Cardinals. She loved to laugh and would tell stories or make comments that would pull you into the laughter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Louise Weathers and Mary Elizabeth Young; brothers, Charles Young and James Young.

Juanita is survived by her children, Phyllis Wilkerson; Karen (Vernon) Heston, Fallis Ellis (Debra) Wilkerson, Jr., Sharon Humphrey, Vivian (Claude) Cochran, Kevin Wilkerson, and Charles (Lisa) Wilkerson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at West Haven Cemetery at a later date.
