Marjorie Mae Meardith, age 81, passed away peacefully Friday, November 1, 2024, in the loving care of the staff at the Hospice House. Marge was born on October 1, 1943, in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of Elizabeth Mae (Snyder) and Wilbur Wallace West. A life-time resident, Marge was a 1961 graduate of Joseph Badger High School and after graduation, she became a licensed Beautician.
On April 6, 1964, she married Warren D. 'Moose' Meardith III and moved to California to live on the Army base where Moose was stationed. Upon his discharge, they returned to the Warren, Ohio, area where she worked for many years as a beautician. It was then that Marge acquired her 'gift of gab' and continued to perfect her skill throughout her life. Marge would work various jobs in Kinsman, over the years including working for 'Jumpy' at Carosellis, Bobbie at the Kinsman Mini Mall, Peg at the quick stop store, and Chuck making flower deliveries. Later in life, she was employed at Walmart in Cortland as a customer service manager working there for many years enjoying getting to talk with everyone she met. Marge was a devoted member of the Kisman Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was one of the co-founders of the Kinsman Ambulance Service. She and Moose were some of the first people in Trumbull County to gain the Advanced EMT Certification. She was very proud to let you know that she helped to deliver five babies throughout her career. Marge spent relentless hours at the Firehall helping with the fish dinners, weekly bingo, Kinsman Fair, and anything else that pertained to helping to strengthen the department.
Besides her devotion to serving the community, she was the key to Moose's recovery as well as his long road of trials and tribulations. Her family will never forget her tireless efforts and for this, she certainly has earned her 'wings'. In the later stages of her life, her mind would often stray and she struggled at times with keeping names straight or places or events of the past. However, she always recognized her family and especially enjoyed sharing time looking at photos of her grandkids and great-grandkids who she loved so dearly.
Marge is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of forty-six years, Moose. Survivors include her two sons, Michael Warren (Robin) Meardith of Kinsman, Ohio, and Matthew David Meardith of Farmdale, Ohio with whom she resided. Two beloved grandsons Aaron (Ashley) Meardith and their three children, Liam, Avery, and Layla, of Hubbard, Ohio, and Benjamin (Kristen) Meardith of Champion, Ohio, and her sister Nancy Dulaney of Westville, Ohio. The family is forever grateful to all the healthcare providers who have been a part of Marge's life throughout the years and a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Rev. Mary Ann Rufener officiating.
