Obituary of Mark Robert Ackerman
Mark Robert Ackerman, 56, of White Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Chevy Chase, Maryland, on May 12, 1968, Mark was raised in Readington Township, New Jersey. He graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in 1986. Mark married his beloved wife, Cherie Smith, on May 2, 1992, and together they raised two children, Theresa and Jake, whom he adored deeply.
For 33 years, Mark worked as an auto mechanic at Bridgewater Auto Collision, where he was known for his dedication and craftsmanship. He took great pride in his work, and his expertise was respected by all who knew him.
Above all, Mark was a devoted father. He cherished his children, and he was especially proud of them.
An avid sports fan, Mark was a dedicated follower of NASCAR, particularly Dale Earnhardt, and he was also a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to his love of sports, Mark had a lifelong passion for fishing. He was a member of the Warren County Bass Club for many years and participated in numerous bass tournaments, often spending time out on his boat enjoying the quiet of the water.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Cherie Ackerman; his children, Theresa and Jake Ackerman; his mother, Donna Ackerman; his brothers, Brett Ackerman (Diann) and Tom Ackerman; his sister-in-law, Candi Greco (Neil); his father-in-law, Richard Smith (Linda); and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert Ackerman, and his mother and father-in-law, Jean and Joe Molter.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held at a later date.
