Mark Coleman, 57, of Canton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on September 17, 1965, to Annette Howard and Douglas Stull and attended McKinley High School.
Mark is survived by his children Nicole [Kirk] Paulson and Maria [Craig] Sotebeer. Mark is also survived by his grandchildren Annabelle Whaley, Russell Whaley Jr., Declan Paulson, Josiah Sotebeer and Alex Sotebeer; his brothers Bill Howard, Jr., and Michael Howard, his nieces Chloe and Claire Howard, and his mother Annette Howard and step-father Bill Howard Sr. Mark is survived by his wife, Cathy Coleman, of 33 years. Cathy and Mark experienced a love at first sight story and met as teenagers at the skating rink in Jackson Township. They lost touch for almost ten years; in an almost unbelievable turn of events, Cathy had a dream about Mark and began searching for him. She found him and they reunited and never left one another's side.
Mark was a long-distance truck driver and enjoyed trips across the country with his wife and his cats (fur babies). Mark could back a large semi into almost any dock and took pride in his ability to drive safely. Mark truly lived life to the fullest by spending time at the park with his friends, working out at the gym, and driving his Jeep. Mark was an avid fan of the band "Kiss" and Gene Simmons was his favorite. Mark had a passion of studying religion and taught himself how to read, write and speak Hebrew.
Throughout his own battle with cancer, Mark left a legacy of alternative homeopathic methods and touched the lives of many others. He spent his final days attempting to help others. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. The family would like to extend deep gratitude for Mark's close friends who have been an integral part of supporting Mark and Cathy with a fundraiser and ensuring that Mark did not leave this Earth alone.
In lieu of a funeral service, Mark will be laid to rest in a "green burial." Mark will be laid to rest at Foxfield Nature Preserve in Wilmot, Ohio-a conservation burial ground. The burial is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Donations and condolences are appreciated and Mark's surviving spouse, Cathy, has a "Go Fund Me" account to defray burial costs.
