Mark Justin Douglas Putnam
September 17, 1991 – May 15, 2025
Justin Putnam, age 33, passed away on May 15th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
Born on September 17th, 1991, in Haywood County to Mark Putnam and Annette Surrett, Justin was a passionate skateboarder whose life was defined by movement, artistry, and a love for being with others. Whether perfecting a trick or simply cruising down the street, Justin embodied the freedom and joy that skateboarding represents. Beyond his impressive skills on the board, He was a gifted skateboarder. He was known as the Barbarian. He skated with the Red Hatchets and Ghost Legends.
Justin's true talent was in his heart. Justin's love for skateboarding was only matched by his love for people. He was known for his boundless generosity and his ability to make anyone feel welcome. He'd give you the shirt off his back without a second thought and was never too busy for a hug. His warmth, genuine care, and infectious smile made everyone feel like family, whether you were a lifelong friend or a stranger he had just met. Justin had an incredible ability to lift people up, offering encouragement, support, and a sense of belonging that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Surviving in addition to his parents he is survived by his sisters Kelly Putnam, Crystal Hartline and his half sister Angel Putnam. Justin's grandparents Charlie Putnam Jr. and Ruth Cyrus along with several nieces and nephews, and by countless skaters, friends, and family members whose lives he touched with his unwavering kindness.
Justin is preceded in death by grandparents Douglas and Margaret Sisk.
A celebration of Justin's life will be held on Saturday May 31st, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Waynesville Skate Park. All are welcome to come, share memories, and honor a man who lived life fully, loved deeply, and rode through the world with unmatched style.
