Mark Hadley, 78, lifelong Monrovia resident and overall hell of a guy, passed peacefully from this life in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025, while in the care of The Gathering Together. He was born on April 18, 1947, to the late Richard "Dick" and Josephine (Stader) Hadley. A proud graduate with the class of 1966 from Monrovia High School where he met his future wife and best friend, Beverly Carter, Mark enlisted in the United States Air Force in the fall of that year. He humbly served his country for two years in Vietnam as a mechanic. Upon returning home he married the sweet young Bev on July 18, 1970, and the two took life by the reigns, bringing two upstanding and devoted sons into the world. While the family moved around the area for a few years, they bought their forever home on Main Street in Monrovia in 1976, and enjoyed the small-town life that Monrovia used to hold, sitting on the front porch watching the world go by. Initially going to work for Cecil McCollum, Mark held several positions with various local companies including the Marathon Station owned by Larry Finchum, Labco, Tri-County Auto Glass for Mick Sigler, then for Saunders, now known as Penske Truck Leasing, where he began his career as a master diesel mechanic. Mark devoted 32 years to the company and deservingly retired in 2009. A faithful member of the liar's table at the Monrovia Family Restaurant, a place where he and his cronies spent many a day catching up on the latest news and occasionally spinning tales. He was the past president of the Monrovia Festival & Civic Association, as well as a member of the Monrovia Christian Church. A camping enthusiast, Mark and Bev, were members of the Hoosier Campers Association, and the family took regular camping trips. An automobile aficionado, he could hear a car from a far distance and know exactly what engine was in it just from the sound, often explaining to Beverly what it was, although it was lost on her. An excellent husband and father, Mark, went above and beyond to provide for his family, never missing a day of work. They were never rich, but they were beyond successful in life. With a knack for tinkering, Mark, aka "Tinker", was gifted with the talent of being able to fix anything that broke (except the washing machine). He passed along the Hadley trait instilling a strong work ethic in his sons, enabling them to succeed in life. He possessed phenomenal insight, often quoting words of wisdom. Quick witted and jovial, he was always up for a good time. He truly loved to laugh and make others laugh. Mark may not have been an affectionate man, but those around him felt his love daily. We all know that when he was greeted at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter, the first he said was "hey, pull my finger". He will be forever missed and remembered for his smile, laugh, and the joy he brought into the world. Along with his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Aaron Hadley. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Beverly Kay (Carter) Hadley of Monrovia; sons, Kyle Hadley (Cindy), and Erik Hadley, all of Monrovia; siblings, Pete Hadley (Linda) of Paragon, Linda Noel of CA, and Neal Hadley (Paula) of Clayton; grandchildren, Shelby McKae of Greenfield, Kaegan Hadley of Monrovia, Maison Hadley of Speedway, and Camden Hadley (Peyton Cooper) of Mooresville; great Grandchildren, Ruby, Riley, and Rory; along with his beloved Boston Terrier, Alice Ann. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00am, in the Monrovia Christian Church, 710 Gordon Rd Monrovia, IN 46157. Pastor Richard Dickison will officiate the services.
