Linda Elaine (Dieckman) Brown, 64, of Hall, left this world unexpectedly of Friday, November 7, 2025. She was born in Batesville, IN, on September 24, 1961, to the late Carl Dieckman and Christa Martha (Steger) Manion.
Originally growing up in southern Indiana, Linda's father died when she was only 4 months old, leaving her and Chris to go on without him. When her mom fell ill and was hospitalized, she was taken care of by a sweet elderly couple, the Gleasoncamps, whom she called grandma and grandpa. Settling in Hall in 1965, Linda attended the Monroe-Gregg School District, where she was a cheerleader, and excelled in tennis, and she proudly graduated with the class of 1980 from Monrovia High School.
Set up on a double date with Ray Brown by mutual friends on a trip to the State Fair, he was immediately smitten with Linda, and she adored his '67 cherry red Mustang. He stole her heart by winning a giant stuffed teddy bear, and the pair were united in marriage on December 22, 1979, spending the rest of their lives loving each other, and bringing two sons into the world. The family of four spent vacations on the sunny beaches of Florida, and she was regularly at the boys' sporting events. Her trip of a lifetime was with her mother to Germany, where Chris was born and raised.
When the kids got older, Linda went back to school, earning her associate's degree in health and human services from Ivy Tech. She completed her internship with Purdue Extensions and was hired by the company right after graduation. She later secured employment with Sycamore Services, where she passionately helped differently abled individuals increase their independence and quality of life. A devoted daughter, Linda, took an early retirement in 2021 to care for her mom. In addition, she was a member of the Hall Christian Church, where she was baptized.
Linda adored cats, candy, and coffee, and had a tight circle of friends that regularly got together. She could be found watching cooking shows or tuning into HGTV. She detested cooking but truly loved to bake cakes (there is a difference). A dedicated wife and mother, she was the thread that held her family together through her kindness and deep love for them, regardless of sacrifices she had to make to ensure their well-being. She was loyal, giving, and continuously put other's needs before her own and regularly donated food to local shelters. She never met a stranger, spoke her mind, and had a great sense of humor. Leaving this life all too soon, she will be forever loved and missed by all who were blessed to be in her life.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Manion. She leaves behind her husband of just shy of 46 years, Hallice "Ray" Brown of Hall; sons, Brad Brown (Nikki) of Clearwater, FL, and Travis Brown of Hall; along with her grandchildren, Braden and Brody Brown.
Cremation Arrangements were entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, in Monrovia, and per Linda's wishes, no services will be held at this time. To share a favorite story, send the family an online condolence, or light a candle in her memory, visit her tribute page at www.lightmemorial.com.
