Mark Hines Obituary

Mark Alan Hines passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was the devoted husband of SueAnn C. (Santoro) Hines for 35 wonderful years.

In his fight against ALS, Mark was fully committed-not only in spirit, but also in action. In a final, selfless act, he donated his brain and spinal cord to ALS research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA in hopes of contributing to a cure for this devastating disease.

Born and raised in Stoughton, MA, Mark was the beloved son of the late Joseph P. Hines and Joan T. (Ambroceo) Power. He was a graduate of Stoughton Public Schools. Mark found great joy in time spent with friends and family, whether it was fishing year-round, playing golf, gardening, or enjoying a friendly competition in his former dart league. Mark was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed routing for his favorite team- the New England Patriots!

Above all, the one thing Mark cherished most in life was raising his two girls. They were the light of his life, his greatest joy and pride. He shared his hobbies with them, weaving together moments of fun with life lessons that instilled strength, kindness, and resilience. Mark didn't just love his daughters-he was deeply proud to be their father.

Even more, he treasured his role as Papa. The love he gave his grandchildren was constant and unconditional-full of encouragement, wisdom, and warmth.

Mark is survived by his daughters, Kelley A. (Hines) Patterson and her husband Nicholas C. Patterson, and Emily J. Hines; and his beloved grandchildren, Bryson C. Patterson, Justin J. Hines, and Brody M. Patterson. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul C. Hines and his wife Annmarie (Paige) Hines and Patrick M. Hines with many nieces and nephews.

His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and who loved him just as fiercely -and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, September 13th, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (RT. 28), Randolph. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's honor may be made to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd. Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209 US
