Mark A. McDonald, a lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana, and a cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on August 22, 1962, in the same city, he would eventually marry, raise a family and celebrate life with his family and friends.
Mark graduated from Adams High School, where he formed friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. After high school, he embarked on a successful career as a liquor salesman and worked his way into a managerial role. He worked in that industry for over 30 years. His professionalism and charisma made him a favorite among clients and colleagues alike.
A devoted family man, Mark is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne M. McDonald, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. His legacy continues through his daughter, Katherine McDonald, and his son, Benjamin McDonald, and daughter-in-law Marianne. Mark was a proud brother to Patricia Nemeth, John McDonald, and his wife Jodi, as well as Tim McDonald and his wife Kathy. He was preceded in death his mother, Ruth Peli, and his sister, Shelley Smith.
Mark's passion for sports was undeniable. He was an ardent fan of Notre Dame, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears. His enthusiasm for his teams was infectious, and he tailgating and watching a game surrounded by friends and family. Mark was also an avid golfer and softball player, relishing the camaraderie and competition. His love for bowling saw him spend many joyful evenings at the local bowling alley, where his sense of humor and sportsmanship were always on display.
Above all, Mark was known for his role as a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His ability to light up a room with his smile and laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mark's presence was a gift to his family, and his guidance and love shaped the lives of those closest to him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the Elks Club 3535 McKinley Ave, South Bend, In 46615. Palmer Funeral Homes – River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O.
