Mark Regelmann, age 63, (1958-2022) passed away quietly from a long hard battle of cancer. Mark was born and grew up in the West Palm Beach area. He graduated from The Citadel in 1980 and then entered the US Marine Corp in the aviation field. In 1986 he transitioned from the Marines to the US Navy where he met and married his wife, Terri, at the New River Air Field. We were stationed in Pensacola, Jacksonville, FL, and Key West. To know Mark, you know he was a Florida boy. He received an early retirement from the Navy in 1998 and then began a career with the airlines. We moved to Key Largo so he could commute to Miami. After his airline shut down in 2008, Mark used his many talents to provide for his family. He had a love for tennis and became USPTA certified to teach tennis at Ocean Reef. Once admin found out he had an aviation background, they promoted him to the Airport Director. Mark tuned pianos, worked off season for John Pennekamp on the Spirit Glass Bottom as a narrator, and substitute taught until he was hired on with the FL Keys Mosquito Control. We then moved to Marathon as our last Key's experience. He was promoted to Chief Pilot and loved flying just above the treetops along the chain of islands. Mark loved this job and all those he worked with. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with cancer and had to take a leave of absence. He later resigned and we moved to Estero, FL to be close to our three daughters' families. He also battled a heart issue needing open-heart surgery which he was blessed to have in July, 2021. Through his many battles, he really came to know "His Brothers" from his Citadel Class of 1980. They rallied alongside him through this fight, especially three of them, John Liberto, former Congressman Steve Buyer, and Doug Goodwin. Never in all this world would you believe the things everyone did for him. Mark was known for his kindness and patience. He was a great son, brother, husband, father, friend, and a Godly man. He loved music and sang in the church Praise Band. Next to flying, he had a love for the ocean and enjoyed fishing, boating, diving, lobstering, and relaxing at the sandbar at sunset. Mark loved life to the fullest with all three daughters and his wife. Mark is preceded in passing by his dad and mom, William and Louisa Regelmann. Mark leaves behind his sister, Lynn Heaton, of Jupiter, FL; his wife, Teresa (Terri) Outland, of Estero, FL along with 3 daughters from the same area, Katie Lozier, Lauren Paxson, and Jenna Miller, our son-in-laws Ed Lozier and Greg Paxson. Mark has 5 Grandchildren, Karolyn, Blake,Emily, Emmit, and Amelia; also two uncles, Robert Regelmann and Laurie Yonge and Aunt Seija Regelmann. There will be a service in Mark's honor in Key Largo, Florida, at First Baptist Church, 99001 Overseas Hwy on Sunday, February 20 at 2 PM. The burial will be the next day at South Florida National Cemetery with full military rights. In lieu of flowers, we are asking donations be sent to the Coral Reef Foundation in Key Largo.
