Mark Michael Sertterh

Mark Sertterh, 46, of Coralville, passed away on June 12, 2023.
Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in North Liberty. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Ridgewood Cemetery. Attendees are free to dress casually in honor of Mark.
Mark was born on February 8, 1977 in Albia, Iowa to Michael and Mary (Sutton) Sertterh. He graduated from Albia High School in 1995 and furthered his education at the University of Iowa, graduating in 1999 with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
On June 10, 2006, Mark married Jennie Hartgrave and to this union, two children, Jaryn and Riley, were born. The family remained in the Iowa City area where Mark worked for Systems Unlimited before serving as the assistant director at the Shelter House for over 10 years.
Mark had many hobbies such as golf, fishing, tailgating and loved coaching his sons in a variety of sports. He was an avid University of Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. In addition, Mark was a long-time sports official, serving as a member of the Iowa City Area Officials Association. You could also find Mark and his boys at many Iowa women's basketball games supporting Jennie and cheering on the Hawks. Above all, Mark was a loving husband, devoted father and cherished friend.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jennie; sons: Jaryn and Riley; parents: Michael and Mary; brother, Matt (Jackie) Sertterh; sister, Michelle (Chris) Casel; nieces and nephews: Mason Sertterh and Allie and Joe Casel as well as his in-laws: Lanny and Judy Hartgrave and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Jennie Sertterh in order to be allocated for Jaryn and Riley's future educational endeavors.
