Marlene Golab

Marlene Mary Jaeger Golab, age 87, of Erie passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by family. She was born May 10, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Bradford, PA when she was about 2 years old. Marlene attended St. Bernard grade school and high school and graduated from Villa Maria College at the motherhouse of Sisters of Saint Joseph.

Marlene worked as a substitute teacher at Gridley School in Erie. When she went to work at Woolworth, she met her future husband. Marlene worked as an aid at Saint Patrick grade school, and Red Barn. She retired after 43 years as a manager at McDonald's. Marlene enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and watching her children and grandchildren have fun at family gatherings.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Golab Sr. by her parents, Bertha (Wilson) and Norbert Jaeger, by her mother-in-law Stella Golab, and two granddaughters, Miracle, and Elizabeth Golab.

Marlene is survived by her sister, Kathy Jaeger (Richard Rullman), by her children Mary Golab (Ed Halpern), Bernard Golab Jr. (Lisa Shorts), Dorothy Golab and Joseph Golab (Fran). She is further survived by her grandson Zachariah Golab, who knew his grandma like a second mother, and a cousin in law Tom Golab, who was her rock. She is survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and long-time friends from Bradford, Pa Joyce and Fran Corionia, and Rosie and Dick Kidd, from Erie.

Friends are invited to call on the family Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, Erie. Prayers will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Patrick Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
