Martha Lynn Groom (90 years old) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 11th in Redlands, California.
Lynn was born in Redlands on January 11th, 1935 to Hans Rancie Porter and LaVern Porter. Lynn spent her early years in Redlands and graduated from Redlands High School.
Lynn met and married Charles Wesley Groom who was stationed at Norton Air Force Base. Lynn soon took a job at the Norton Air Force base in the procurement department and thrived in that position until her retirement. The military took them to many places across the United States. Lynn and her husband shared a love for aviation and traveled extensively in their airplanes. In their free time they visited family in Wisconsin where they had a summer home.
Family was very important to Lynn and she was always excited for get-togethers and parties. Lynn also enjoyed playing cards and games with friends and family.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents Hans Rancie Porter and LaVerne Porter, her brother Gene Porter and sister Joy (Stan) Sabin. Lynn is survived by her sister-in-law Carrol Porter and her two sons Larry (Dawn) Groom and Greg (Marika) Groom, six grandchildren, and 19 great-grand children.
Funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1021 E. Pioneer Ave. Redlands, CA
92374, on April 26th at 11:00 am. Internment will be held privately at Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 29th.
