Martha L. Johnson

Martha L. Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 7, 2023. A lifelong resident of Plainfield, she was born on October 15, 1930 to the late Fay and Velma (Bayliss) Morrison. She was a 1948 graduate of Plainfield High School and attended comptometer school. Upon graduation, she worked for Lindi Ayr in Speedway until 1955. Later she worked for USAirways, retiring in 1991 after 25 years. She was a lifelong member of Plainfield Christian Church, a member of The Order of Eastern Star Chapter 414, and honorary member of Plainfield Friday Club. She married David Johnson in 1983, who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Debby (Pryor) and Jim Exner, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Chelsea (Exner) and Nick Campbell, nephew Reed (Vicki) Pryor, and fur babies R & O. Martha loved spending time with family, knitting, picnics, raising orchids, watching old movies, and riding her lawnmower. Funeral services will be in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield on Saturday August 12, 2023 at 12 noon with calling from 10 am to service time. Luke Proctor will be officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield. The family wishes to thank Kelli for all her tender loving care and Shelia and Melissa for their never ending support.
