Martha Lee Schumaker, passed away on February 8, 2026, just shy of her 92nd birthday. Born on February 22, 1934, Martha dedicated her life to teaching, inspiring countless students during her tenure as a Home Economics teacher at Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida. Her commitment to education began with a Bachelor's Degree from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia, followed by a Master’s Degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
Martha had a vibrant passion for life that extended beyond the classroom. She was known for her love of travel and her enthusiasm for car shows, often seen exploring new places and sharing her interest in automobiles with friends and family. Her spirit of adventure was contagious, and she brought joy to all who crossed her path.
Martha’s legacy is carried on by her loving companion of over 30 years, Randy Wilson, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She is survived by her two children, Larry Schumaker (Darlene) and Vicki Schumaker Hix, who have fond memories of their mother and the values she instilled in them.
Her family also includes her treasured grandchildren, Debbie Robertson (Mitchell) and Kenna Oakes (Aaron), who adored their grandmother and will carry on her traditions and love. Martha was delighted to be a great grandmother to Kevin, Kayla (Jeremiah), Aubrie, Mac, Helen, and Hezekiah, who brought immense joy to her life. She was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of her great great grandchild, Zechariah, expected any day now, a testament to the enduring legacy of love she created within her family.
Martha Lee Schumaker will be remembered not only for her contributions to education but also for her warmth, kindness, and undying love for her family and friends. Her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
